The History of the Run

This is the 21st year of the Are You In RUN for Education!

It all started twenty years ago, in 1995 when a group of Oak Knoll School parents and teachers decided to organize a fun-run in Menlo Park to raise money for their school.

Known as the Oak Knoll Otter Run, the event grew over the years as increasing numbers of residents and local business leaders jumped in to support this community event.

In 2013, building on its success, the run was renamed the Are You In RUN for Education and its fundraising mission expanded to support the Menlo Park-Atherton Education Foundation and the four schools (Encinal, Hillview, Laurel, and Oak Knoll) that make up the Menlo Park City School District.

Last year, we had a record attendance of over 1,600 runners, and our post-race Wellness Fair attracted over 3,000 people from our schools, community and local businesses.
